Passing of Gordon Snyder

Gordon L. Snyder, age 78, passed away December 30, 2021.

A funeral service with firemen's honors was held on Saturday, January 8th followed by burial in Branchport Cemetery.

Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Branchport/Keuka Park Fire Department, 3686 Route 54A, Branchport, NY 14418

Gordon worked for Mercury Aircraft in Hammondsport for 43 years. He was a member of the Branchport/Keuka Park Fire Department since 1972, dedicating thousands of hours of volunteer service and holding every office in the department.

He was also a very active member of Northern Central New York Volunteer Firemen's Association. He was also a member of the Firefighter's Association of the State of New York and was always working to train, educate and advocate fire safety. He traveled across the state to share his knowledge and experience with many other firemen volunteers, and received many awards for his service.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Snyder; sons, Terry (Carol) Tears of Fla., and Dale Pielow of Dundee; sister, Sarah (Earl) Mortensen of Sarasota, Fla.; brothers-in-law, George Tears of Bath and Bucky Bates of Branchport; three grandchildren, Jessica Gensler, Heather Andrews and Judy Weigel, all of Florida; special daughter and grandkids, Gayline Enos, and Connor and Clarissa Enos; and great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Jake, Kylee, and Julian.

He was predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Margaret Snyder; and sister, Rosanna Bates.

Gordon will be sorely missed by all.
