Wayne County Firefighter Memorial Service
Thu. Sep 19th 2019

Wayne County held its memorial service on September 19th at the Rose United Methodist Church.  130 people came together to honor and remember 50 deceased Fire Fighters and Ladies Auxiliary from Wayne County during this past year. Pastor Karen Heit, the speaker of the evening, spoke about what it takes to be a firefighter.  She noted that a person joins the fire service to help and serve the community. A firefighter is interrupted many times during a meal, when you have something you want to do or have some sleepless nights because there is a need for help. The question was asked, “Who are these people that run toward danger when everyone else is running away?” The only answer to this is Firefighters and First Responders. In the fire and ambulance service we are all brother and sisters working for the same cause, helping people in time of need. The church was filled with all those who honored the fallen. They may be gone but not forgotten.
